Villanova is one of the most decorated teams in college basketball history.
The Wildcats, ranked No. 2 in the country, are currently on a four-game winning streak and will look to build on that momentum on Saturday night against the Hoyas.
However, one of their biggest issues in recent years has been inconsistency.
The team’s offense, however, has been among the best in the nation over the last few years, and its defense has played well, too.
Here’s how you can tell if you’re in for a great night of basketball.
When the Wildcats are on offense Villanova shoots an incredible 61.3 percent from the field, ranking first in the ACC and the NCAA.
In contrast, Georgetown shoots only 47.6 percent.
That’s a big reason why Villanova’s offense has consistently been able to score against Georgetown.
The Hoyas are a team that relies heavily on their perimeter play, but Villanova consistently guards that area well.
They also play with a lot of speed, which is why they can make the shots that they do on defense.
When Villanova plays well Georgetown is able to attack Villanova on both ends of the court.
The Yellow Jackets are second in the NCAA in offensive efficiency, shooting 56.5 percent from three and 58.2 percent from long range.
In fact, the Wildcats shot a staggering 60.7 percent from beyond the arc in that regard.
Villanova has also been able for much of the season to hit open shots and score, especially with three-point shooters like Jabari Parker, Markelle Fultz and John Collins in the fold.
Villans offense has also struggled with the ability to score from beyond three feet, which can make things difficult for Georgetown.
Villanese has a knack for shooting jumpers Villanova, who ranks third in the league in three-pointers made per game, has made an incredible 9.2 per game.
That figure includes a whopping 22 jumpers this season, which ranks third best in college hoops.
Their three-pointer numbers are a bit more impressive.
They’ve made 9.5 per game on jumpers, and they rank third in that category.
Georgetown is not known for being a great three-ball team.
They have had success with the jumper in the past, but they have not done so in recent seasons.
Villainese is good with the ball Villanova ranks sixth in the Big East in field goal percentage, and it also ranks sixth best in three point percentage.
That should give them a solid edge over Georgetown.
That said, the two teams have faced off several times this season and there have been plenty of missed opportunities.
Villakes shot selection has also become a concern this season.
Villas defense has been inconsistent, which has resulted in many of their attempts being thwarted.
Georgetown has a chance to win this game on Saturday because it is one game away from facing the top-seeded Wildcats, who have the No. 1 seed in the conference and a shot at beating Villanova for the first time since 2011.
Villanees defense will be key Villanova will be looking to start the game off on a high note.
They are coming off of a victory against No. 14 Louisville on Monday night, and the Wildcats were on a tear after that win.
They went on to win the game by a combined 14 points, and that included a late 3-pointer by Jabari Powell that gave Georgetown a 74-74 lead.
Villar is a player that Georgetown is looking to avoid and that will be a big factor for the Hoyers.
They’ll need a lot from the Wildcats offense to take the lead and get their offense rolling, but that won’t be easy.
How the teams match-up Georgetown will be playing its third straight game at home.
The Cardinal have won their last three games at home against Villanova and Gonzaga, with Villanova winning both of those games.
Georgetown hasn’t beaten Villanova since they won the 2010-11 season series in Madison Square Garden.
The two teams met for the third time in 2013, and Georgetown won the series by 20 points.
Georgetown also has won three of the last four meetings in Madison, including the 2014-15 season series, which the Hoyes won by 18 points.
This will be the third straight meeting between the two schools in Madison.
