TAHITI — A luxury hotel in Tahitian capital, Manama, will be the first in the world to offer an exclusive suite for $100,000, the hotel said Monday.
The resort, located in the capital’s historic Balaam Palace, is part of a wave of luxury hotels that have opened in the country in recent years.
The new suite at Balaams Palace, which opens March 5, is the latest to be priced at more than $1.2 million.

The resort said it’s the first of its kind in the Middle East and has attracted guests from as far away as Australia, the United States, Australia and Brazil.
It also said the suites are not for rent and are designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
“We are delighted to offer our guests the most exclusive suite in the region, and it will last for decades to come,” the resort said in a statement.
“The Baloames Palace resort will continue to be a destination for world class hospitality and luxury for guests and locals alike.”

Last year, Baloamps Palace Hotel, which has the highest-profile luxury suite in South America, sold out in two days.
In 2016, the first suite was released, with the hotel boasting more than 600 rooms and suites for guests.
The resort has now opened two new suites and has sold out, it said in its latest statement.
Hotel Balooms Palace Hotel is in the heart of Manameia, which is the capital of the Maldives and a popular tourist destination.

The Maldives is one of the poorest countries in the Arab world.
